Core Concepts in Working with Children and Adolescents for Refugee Backgrounds

This one-day introductory workshop is designed to put a framework of understanding around the unique issues faced by children and adolescents from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds.

It focuses on understanding the link between what refugees have been through, the impact of torture and other traumatic events, the stressors of detention, resettlement and cultural transition. It will look at the impact of war and violence from a developmental perspective, with attention paid to attachment and resilience.
