As the new school year begins and extracurricular activities such as sport and art classes are offered, make sure you apply for the different vouchers, rebates and grants offered by the various Governments. NSW has the Active Kids and Creative Kids vouchers, and other states and territories offer similar incentives.

The Active Kids vouchers are the NSW government’s way of giving some relief to parents, offering $100 per child for any sporting activities.
Kids between 4.5 and 18-years-old who are enrolled in and attending school are eligible for the vouchers.
The first voucher for the year is available now and can be used for an eligible activity from January to December 31. A second voucher is valid from July 1 to December.
To use the voucher, find a registered activity provider and present the voucher when you sign-up to the activity.
Eligibility
If you’re a parent, carer or guardian, the student will be eligible if they are:
- a NSW resident
- aged between 4.5 and 18 years
- enrolled in school (from Kindergarten to Year 12, including those who are home-schooled or enrolled in secondary school education at TAFE NSW)
- a current Medicare cardholder.
You can apply for a voucher for each eligible student.
You can use the voucher for registration, participation or membership costs with an approved Active Kids provider.
How to apply
- Check the eligibility requirements
- Select the 'Apply online' button.
- Log in to your account, or sign up for a MyServiceNSW Account.
Follow the prompts to apply for the voucher.
Note: If you're applying for a child's second voucher, select 'Apply for Active Kids Voucher 2' on the Services tab.
To use the voucher:
- Choose the eligible provider where you'll use the voucher.
- At registration or payment time, provide the following information through the provider's preferred process:
- child's full name
- child's date of birth
- Active Kids voucher number.
More information
A voucher can only be used:
- once (if the fees for your chosen activity are less than $100, the remaining balance is forfeited and can't be used)
- during the calendar year, it's issued
- for the person named on the voucher
- for registration or membership fees with an approved Active Kids provider.
A voucher can't be:
- split between more than one provider or registration (which means if you don't use the full $100 any remaining amount will not be used)
- used for individual items (like jerseys, socks or boots)
- used for the same activity within the same term as another Active Kids voucher
- redeemed for cash.
To use the voucher, give the details to your registered activity provider.
Creative Kids voucher (NSW)
This voucher has similar eligibility and application terms as the Active Kids voucher. It may be used with a registered activity provider for registration, participation and tuition costs for creative arts, speech, drama, dance, digital design, coding, and music lessons and activities.
From 1 January 2022, the Creative Kids program will refocus on encouraging real-time (live) activities. Art kit programs, pre-recorded video lessons and online programs that are not delivered in real-time will no longer be eligible.

Other states and territories also offer similar programs to help cover the costs of extra-curricular activities.
Queensland Fairplay Voucher
The FairPlay voucher offers parents up to $150 to pay for sports club memberships and participation fees and is available once a year.
Key dates
Round 5 is now closed – applications closed 13 October 2021
10 November 2021: Vouchers expire and must have been presented to an activity provider.
24 November 2021: Vouchers must be redeemed by activity providers.

Western Australia KidSport program
Kidsport rebates are available once each calendar year for all sports clubs that meet the eligibility criteria. Be warned that these rebates do expire within 90 days. Click here to register.

Victoria Get Active Kids Voucher
The Get Active Kids Voucher Program helps eligible families get their kids involved in organised sport and recreation activities by reimbursing the cost of membership and registration fees, uniforms and equipment. Eligible children may be able to receive up to $200 each per round. More information here.
South Australia Sports Vouchers
Sports Vouchers program offers primary school-aged children a $100 rebate for all sports or dance registration or membership fees. There is one voucher for every primary-school-aged child per calendar year. Click here for more information about the program.
Northern Territory Sports Vouchers
Sports Vouchers are available for every school-enrolled child from preschool to year 12 as well as home-schooled children. In both January and July, families living in urban areas can apply here for a $100 voucher to cover, recreation and cultural activities.
Tasmania Ticket to play
Ticket to Play provides two vouchers up to $100 each towards club membership for children aged 5-18 years and listed on a Centrelink Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card or in Out of Home Care.
