Awareness

Celebrated annually on March 26, Epilepsy Awareness Day, or Purple Day was created to increase the public’s understanding of this brain disorder and to eliminate the fear and stigma surrounding it.

Founded in 2008 by a young Canadian school girl Cassidy Megan, Purple Day** has become a global campaign dedicated to increasing epilepsy awareness worldwide.

Purple is the official colour of epilepsy and PURPLE DAY aims to encourage people to talk about epilepsy and to remind those who live with seizures, that they are not alone. To support epilepsy awareness, we encourage you to ‘GO PURPLE’ to support and increase awareness and understanding of epilepsy.

What can you do to support Purple Day?

Australians can show their support by hosting a Purple Day fundraising event at school, with friends or at work, buying merchandise or making a donation to raise epilepsy awareness.
