Community Engagement is a crucial component of our business. In simple terms it incorporates all interaction; formal and informal, direct and indirect that IDEAS has with individuals, groups and organisations within the community. The most obvious role is to offer many and diverse channels for IDEAS to reach and provide information to those in need. However, a less obvious function of Community Engagement, and just as important for business sustainability is that it offers avenues for consultation with the community and a means of collecting information and data about what’s available for you in your community.

Current Community Engagement activities include:

Developing, organising and facilitating our own workshops, training and innovative events including:

  • The PossABLE IDEAS EXPO – arguably Australia’s biggest event for people with disabilities, their families and carers.
  • Attending and supporting disability, affiliated sector and community based events.
  • Presenting on conference programs.
  • Visiting organisations, support groups etc. to talk about ways we can be of assistance to them.
  • Involvement and participation in a wide range of disability, aged care, affiliated sector and community networks and meetings.
