The NSW Aboriginal Land Council Funeral benefit scheme provides financial assistance in the form of a limited grant for funerals of Aboriginal people.

 Eligibility Summary

There are two limited grant size tiers, being $1,000 and $5,000 respectively, depending on the applicants eligibility. Upon approval, the funding will be paid directly to the Funeral service provider of the funeral.

To be eligible for up to $1,000 in funding for claimable funeral expenses, the Aboriginal person must be buried within NSW (regardless of if they resided in NSW or not) or be a member of the NSW local Aboriginal Land Council (regardless of if they resided in or are buried in NSW).

Only previous financial members (paying an annual fee) of the original Funeral Fund that was created in 1991-1992 and later closed down in 1994 are eligible to receive up to $5,000 in claimable funeral expenses.
