ISO, the International Organization for Standardization develop and publish International Standards.

They recognised the need to remove unnecessary barriers to tourism. So they have developed and published the first International Standard to help make travel accessible.

"21902:2021 Tourism and related services — Accessible tourism for all — Requirements and recommendations" is the new standard.

This document establishes requirements and provides guidelines for “accessible tourism for all”.

To ensure

  • equal access and enjoyment of tourism
  • by the broadest range of people
  • of all ages and abilities.

It intends to inform anyone involved in tourism. From large scale national tourism boards to small operators and tourists themselves.
