Wednesday, 18 November 2020 at 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Henry Parkes Equity Centre, Mimka Ave, Whalan

The Sydney based regions of the National Disability Coordination Officer (NDCO) Program support a number of Vocational Support Networks (VSNs) in the Sydney metropolitan area. The VSNs were originally started and organised by Department of Education Support Teacher Transition (STTs) to bring together stakeholders involved in the transition process for school leavers with disability. As the networks grew in strength, steering committees were established to help ensure the sustainability of the networks.

VSNs are located within Western Sydney, South Western Sydney, Sydney and Northern Sydney. The membership of the VSN is comprised of school staff, State and Commonwealth funded services and government departments who are engaged in supporting school leavers with a disability to access both employment and prevocational education and training programs.

Those who attend include:

• School staff (DoE, CEO, Independent)

• Other educators (TAFE, Apprenticeship programs, RTOs)

• State and Commonwealth funded services (DES, NDIS

• Government departments (Human Services, NDIS)

• National Disability Coordination Officer VSNs provide a forum for:

• Information sharing

• Identification of barriers and emerging trends

• Professional development

• Expo planning

• Improving vocational and employment outcomes for school leavers with a disability and ensuring a smoother transition
