Awareness

The Sydney Alliance invites you to join us in celebrating the City of Canterbury Bankstown's initiative for fee-free early childhood education and care for children of families seeking asylum.

Families seeking asylum on Bridging Visas have no access to the childcare subsidy, which puts early childhood education and care out of their reach, making it harder for children to be prepared for starting school and enabling parents to find work.

In 2018, Sydney Alliance and other civil society leaders worked with Council to develop the first Australian project to offer children seeking asylum free access to places in Council-run childcare centres this year (2019).

This celebration will acknowledge and thank Mayor Khal Asfour and the City of Canterbury Bankstown Council for their commitment to support early childhood education for children seeking asylum.

Come and hear inspiring firsthand stories about the impact of this initiative.

Find out how you can ensure that families seeking asylum can heal, rebuild and contribute through access to early childhood education and care.
