The Big Competition for Inventive Little Kids. Do you know what plastic banknotes, wi-fi and the bionic ear (cochlear implants) all have in common? They’re all Australian inventions! Meanwhile, trampolines, icy poles and braille were all invented by kids. 

The Origin Energy Little Big Ideas Competition taps into kid’s creative and intuitive energy.

Entry is only open to Australian residents who are a student in Grades 3 to 8 in Australia. Individuals can be in the relevant grades in a primary or secondary school, or they can be homeschooled in these year levels.

Primary school-aged kids with big ideas can enter and be in the running to win a prize, such as $10,000, or a $1000 runner up prize.

It is simple to enter.

  • Invent something (Draw your invention)
  • Upload your invention (or submit by post)

Online entries close at 11.59 pm AEST on Friday 10 September 2021. Mail entries must be posted by Friday 10 September 2021 and received by last mail on Friday 17 September 2021.
