The back of a man's head. He wears glasses, has white hair, and is wearing a white hat,

We want to share some of the ways our PossABLE Advocates have supported, changed lives and advocated for people with disability. This is *Clyde's story.

*Clyde is in his late 50's. He has a vision impairment and lower back condition affecting his mobility.

*Name changed for confidentiality.

Clyde has lived alone in his late parents' house for the last 30 years without assistance. He relies on a mobility scooter to get around and has limited social networks. He spends most of his day listening to the TV, drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis.

Clyde has a staph infection which he has largely ignored. This infection has resulted in many visits to the hospital. He was provided with a Safe and Supported at Home (SaSH) package on a recent discharge. His case manager referred Clyde for advocacy to apply for NIDS access. He had applied 12 months ago but was declined access.

The advocate gathered evidence for the application with the case manager's assistance and submitted a new NDIS Access Request. This NDIS application was also declined. The advocate instigated a review of the decision, but Clyde required more evidence of the permanent nature of his disabilities.

The issue is currently unresolved. Clyde's case manager is working with treating professionals to gather the required evidence so the matter can go before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT).
