The Raising Children Network has released a new app called Raising Healthy Minds, which is designed to help parents monitor their child’s social and emotional wellbeing.

The Raising Children Network is an Australian parenting website, providing free and reliable resources on parenting for all types of Australian families, big or small. Their new app, Raising Healthy Minds, is funded by the Australian Government, so it is available for free on Apple and Android devices!

The director of Raising Children Network, Derek McCormack, wanted to bring awareness to the mental health of younger children. As the app focuses on children aged 12 years and under, it allows parents to navigate whether their child is experiencing normal ups and downs or an emerging mental health issue. Not only does the new app help parents to be more mindful of their child’s mental health and wellbeing, but it also provides support services, professional and non-commercial advice, and conversational prompts between parent and child on navigating feelings and emotions. All resources are tailored to the developmental stage of your child (baby, toddler, or young child).

Key features of the Raising Healthy Minds app include:

  • Evidence-based articles, videos, and resources tailored to you and your child.
  • Bookmark resources to save for reading or watching later.
  • Breaks down behaviours or emotions that you may notice in your child.
  • Sends weekly tips and reminders.
  • Conversation prompts between parent and child to promote better connections and the child’s self-expression.
  • Monitoring your child’s skills in building confidence, making friends at school, and talking about feelings.
