We are inviting you to participate in Overdose Awareness Day 2010. The silver badge, which signifies the profound loss of someone cherished, will be available for anyone to wear, whether they wish to show their understanding or to offer condolences to those bearing the burden of grief, or, indeed, to signify their own grief. The badge is a symbol which puts different views and presumptions aside to commemorate the complexity of life and to remember the joy which was given by those who have been lost.

The week will encourage all Australians, once they reach the age of 40, to undertake a comprehensive eye check every two years and not to take their sight for granted. In 2010 NCOSS will celebrate a significant milestone in it’s history with the Fairness in NSW - 75 Years of NCOSS conference to be held at the Australian Technology Park, Redfern on 5 and 6 August 2010. NCOSS was established in 1935 to promote cooperation in the provision of community services and to influence social legislation. Seventy five years later NCOSS continues to provide an independent voice on social and economic policy issues and is the major coordinator for non government social and community services in NSW. Our vision is for a society where there is social and economic equity, based on co-operation, participation, sustainability and respect. For the 75th Anniversary Conference, in the year before a State Election, it is timely to reflect on our history, learn from the past and consider what the future might hold. This conference is a must for community organisations, policy makers and academics with an interest in the future of the non government sector. Above all the conference is for those who are meeting the challenges of ensuring a sustainable sector that meets the needs of disadvantaged people and communities.
